I was surfing Les Stroud’s main website today and saw that he will be publishing a 2 part show called “Off The Grid” which will show Les and his family move to a 150 acre lot with a bunch of go green stuff. But done take my word for it, here is the exact description on the website.

While renegotiating doing another season of Survivorman, Les Stroud is producing two one-hour specials for Canada’s OLN (Outdoor Life Network) called Off The Grid with Les Stroud. This new and captivating show will highlight Les’ family’s move to their 150 acre bush lot with solar power, rain harvesting systems, and many new technologies for living an energy-conscious and self-sustaining life.

Im very excited for this, I love this kinda stuff. However I will have to purchase it, because we don’t get Canadian TV in the US :)

Everyone knows what to bring into the wilderness when they go camping, hunting, fishing, etc. But very few people bring survival kits when they go for day hikes, or 4 wheeling, etc. Homemade survival kits are easy and cheap to put to gather and they will help a lot when you get stuck for any reason in the wild.

Homemade or store bought?
I rather have a homemade kit, its easy to put together and very cheap. But you can purchase store made survival kits on the internet, I would suggest using ebay, I use ebay for everything and they always have better deals on the site. As you can see on that website they have a few different types of kits, they range from fire starter kits to first ad. So if you looking to buy a small kit for your truck or 4 wheeler and not spend a lot of time or money, I would suggest using ebay.

However, if your like me, than you would want only certain things in your kits. Some of the most important for me is flint, knife and sharpener, fishing gear, axe, and some water tablets. That is the bare essentials, but that kit is only designed for a overnighters to a few days max. I would keep that in my truck just incase, however if your going camping, everything changes. I would suggest looking at this kit for more info.

Survival kit 1
Survival Kit 2

Its a documentary about a 51 year old man that goes and lives in the Alaskan wilderness for 30 years. He films it the same way Les does, he sets up all the cameras himself and shows you how to build cabins , dig for water, make paths and stuff like that. He doesn’t go into details on situations… its more like a documentary of a guy that goes and survives alone for 30 years. I only found these 2 videos, but I might buy the whole video. Ill tell everyone how I like it.

I have always been a Survivorman fan. Ever since I saw my first episode about 2 years ago when Les was stranded after a plane crash. I though that it was bad ass that we would go out and survive so we can learn how to. Than after that I always liked friday nights because it would show surviorman back to back (they dont do that anymore :( ).

I own a few internet companies and I make websites for a living. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I was searching for domains and I found that no one registered survivorman.org. So I bought it and set up this temporary free wordpress layout on this site so we can talk about Survivorman and Les. I also installed a message board were we can talk about anything we would like.

The Message Boards:
I set up some message boards which you can get to it here. I will be the moderate/admin on it until I can find some good people to take over. I am hoping that we all can talk about the survivorman show, les, survival, camping, and a lot more. I wll not tolerate any spamming, flamming, or anything that hurts the community. I want a fun place to talk without the bullshit. However I am a believer in speaking your mind. So we will not be editing your posts (unless they are spam or flame) and I wont be banning cus words. You may speak your mind in these forums.

The Blog:
I am hoping to find some people that will keep this blog updated with free blog posts. I would love to have good quality blog posts about camping, survival, survivorman, etc. However finding good people to blog is hard. But if you are interested please send an email to jonwaraas@gmail.com. I will get back to you asap. I hope to at least get 1 blog post a week, I will try my best on that.

Thank you for stopping by and make sure to bookmark this website and add our feed to your readers :)

If you really feel ambitious, you might enjoy a ride down the rivers of Honduras. A cheap holiday vacation in Honduras can be extremely adventurous when you plan your trip around the whitewater rafting experience. Imagine the off-season in Honduras finding new uncharted waters with more rapids than you could ever need. You plan a vacation that includes a guided tour or if you are experienced, you might try the waters yourself. There are so many uncharted waters in Honduras just waiting to be discovered. Can you imagine discovering the next best place to do some rapid shooting and sharing it with the natives?

Every year you will find people from everywhere planning a cheap holiday vacation to Honduras to do just that, find some new waters to have the adventure of a lifetime. Many times, rafters start in La Ceiba, which takes you on the tour of a lifetime through a beautiful gorge and some spectacular jungle areas. The Honduras holiday vacation is one of the best presents you could give to yourself. I f plan the trip during a holiday that is also an off-season time, you can find some cheap holiday packages that allows the entire family to go along.

The months of November and December are the best time to visit Honduras because the rainy season is done and the waters are ready to send you on a thrill you will not forget. The challenge of whitewater rafting as the waters rise and fall is incredible. You can look around at many different travel sites on the Internet to find the one that is the best as far as a cheap holiday deal. You will find that many include hotel accommodations, airfare and sometimes the rafting package as well.

You will find that a trip to Honduras is going to be less expensive than a trip to Walt Disney World. You do not have to spend money to enjoy the beautiful scenery while out on the river waters. It is all free and just waiting for you to come and enjoy. Look around and see when you should plan your cheap holiday to Honduras.
